I’ve been following the Wimbledon Championships this past week. I’m mainly interested in Federer, Maria Sharapova, and Hewitt.

I think Hewitt is somewhat overhyped.

Yeh he’s #2 in the world. Well deserved with the bassline counter-attack approach, and he was #1 for a while. There’s no denying Hewitt is good.

He’s also a personality. Like him or not, he’s catch cry “Come On!!!” is heard everywhere he plays and other players on the circuit are following suit it would appear.

However he’s not a thinker like Federer. He doesn’t adjust his game when he needs to. Interesting statistic how Federer has now won their last 7 encounters, but head to head they’re only 2 games apart or something. Federer was getting his ass handed to him by Hewitt before the current streak, but he worked out a strategy to destroy Hewitt and he continues to do it.

So it was funny last night when the (Australian) commentators tried to hype the match up by saying “Hewitt versus Federer - the finals match but in the semis and possibly the match of the tournament”. Then when the match is about to begin they’re going “we have no idea how Hewitt will beat him. Federer has no weaknesses that the tennis pros are aware of” LOL.

Now Federer, he’s on a whole other level. The guy reminds me of Sampras in his prime. Simply unbeatable. I think Federer’s game is even better than Sampras’ in some ways. His ability to pick apart his opponents and his precise placement, angled and powerful strokes are difficult for anybody to manage. Unless some unforseen disaster were to occur, I don’t see why Federer wouldn’t be gunning for Sampras’ records.

As for the Hewitt-Federer semi-final:

Bidding for a hat-trick of titles, the Swiss advanced to Sunday’s final by defeating the Australian - a Wimbledon winner in 2002 - 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) in two hours seven minutes.

Not too surprising a result really.

My only complaint about Federer is his lack of charisma. He’s like a machine. Reminds me of Borg and some of the past players. I mean he’s not immediately marketable like some other players on the circuit. That’s OK though. His talent speaks for itself and he’ll get more than enough attention, commercials, and all that goes with being #1.

Now speaking of marketing, anyone remember Anna Kournikova? Of course you do.

Her downfall was her gorgeous looks and lack of gameplay. She did more off the court than she did on it. So it was better (for her) that she stayed off it in the end. She did draw crowds to the matches though.

So then came Maria Sharapova, another young Russian superstar in the making. The difference here was that this girl could actually play.

I think I pretty much shut everyone up after I won at Tokyo. -Maria Sharapova

After winning the women’s single title in 2004, it looked like Maria was well on her way to defending the crown. Unfortunately Venus Williams had something else to say about that, defeating her 7-6 (7-2), 6-1 in the Semi Final round.
So moving into the finals, looks like Davenport versus Williams for the ladies and Federer versus the winner of Roddick and Johansson’s match for the gents. It may be a repeat of last year’s finals - Roddick versus Federer. I hope so.

Enough said about tennis, now let us turn our attention to my life. herro people! ok so i didnt know anyone actually read this! this was just a place for me to ramble when noone else would want to listen, haha, but anyways. *waves* to anyone reading this

well, funnily enough i slept for 13 hours last night. haha. i had a relatively big one on sunday night. although i have been saving i have been going out heaps lately. In particular, the only place ive been to in the last few weeks was the one and only starbucks. Kudos to those lovely people that had managed to find time just to entertain me. stuff is good! my computer is crap. everytime i use msn or icq is crashes. haha. its trying to tell me something.

*waves* to nisa, ad, patin, din and lan over the other side of the world.(blasting people,,u guys just a few hours away) come back soon. we all miss you heaps! actually, dont come back just yet coz i want to party it up with you when i come! hehe

more on my comment about time...time is a humn invention...is it not? anyone else read Sophie's World? it really makes me think. i love it! but this whole thing about time has got me really really thinking. a friend is going through some trouble at the moment and if you ask me, a lot of it is related to the pressures, boundaries and limitations of time. why do we exert this upon ourselves? is it because our brains would shrivel up and die if we didnt give it bonudaries? hmm im so confused. can anyone shed some light.

im so tired. i was so happy. now i am in a crappy mood. i hate people feeling crap about themselves (yes yes you could say i am a hypocrite :P) and i hate that i cant do anything about it. i hate that it brings me down.

tomorrow will be fantastic...i hope. i cant wait. i dont know what to expect. i guess we go with the flow and hang out like we've wanted to. i think i have high expectations. i need to have a fun day. fun it will be.

The weekend is over. How can it go so fast :/ like really?! like i worked 38 hours last week and was so looking forward to having the WHOLE weekend off and now it is all over. but it was good. Till then, ne nice to each other.
